Anahtar kelimeler: Besin değeri, in vitro gaz üretimi, kinoa, organik madde sindirimi, ot verimi

Effects of Maturity Stages on Hay Yield and Quality, Gas and Methane Production of Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.)

ABSTRACT: The aim of the current experiment was to determine the green forage yield, dry forage yield, nutritive value, gas production, methane production, metabolisable energy and organic matter digestibility of quinoa plant harvested at three different stages (pre-flowering, flowering and seeding maturity). The maturity stages had a significant (P≤0.01) effect on the parameters studied.

Crude protein, ether extract, crude ash, gas production, methane production, metabolisable energy and organic matter digestibility decreased while green forage yield, dry forage yield, ADF and NDF contents increased with advanced maturity.

The nutritive value of quinoa plant decreased with advancing maturity. Therefore quinoa plant could be harvested at pre-flowering or flowering stages since crude protein and metabolisable energy of quinoa plant was high at these stages.

Key words: Nutritive value, in vitro gas production, quinoa, organic matter digestibility, hay yield
